There was a time when I focused so much on building my business that my friends started to have kitchen table talks with me to remind me that friendship is a two-way street. They supported me, but I wasn’t showing up for them in a way that showed my appreciation. Some of you reading this may have faced similar situations with your husbands, wives, children, and others who play an important role in your life. I’ve talked to women who worked on their businesses during the kid’s games and missed important plays. I’ve spoken to women who did not know how to organize a date without filling like the time was better spent working on their business. I’m sharing this because I want you to know I understand. You are doing all this back-breaking, soul-crushing work to change the dynamic for those you love. You want to provide for them in a way that gives them a taste of belonging, striving, and achieving their goals with grace. I get it because I’ve been there and done that, and I have the hidden medals to prove it. Amidst the chaos and demands, I discovered a game-changing strategy that revolutionized how I approached business growth: sales funnels.

But first, let me warn you. This is going to be a five-part series. There is too much to share in one blog post. I want to do it justice and provide real insight into how this can work for you.

Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Kim McCarter, an entrepreneur, coach, and advocate for soulful business strategies. Like many of yours, my journey began with a burning desire to make a difference and build a business that aligned with my values. However, I quickly realized that navigating the entrepreneurial landscape was a challenging feat.

For years, I juggled the demands of a corporate leadership role while passionately pursuing my entrepreneurial dreams. It was a constant juggling act, trying to find the delicate balance between my career, my business, and my personal life. There were moments when self-doubt crept in, questioning whether I could truly achieve success in both realms.

But it was during this journey that I stumbled upon the transformative power of sales funnels. They became my guiding light, illuminating a path to business growth and balance I never thought possible. With the right strategies and mindset, I managed to scale my business and create the freedom to enjoy life to the fullest.

I come from humble beginnings. My mother was 38 when she had me; I was the youngest by twelve years. Talk about shocking the hell out of your kids, lol. My mother loved me fiercely. She loved me so well that at just five years old, she sent me to live with my grandmother in West Philly to ensure I did not grow up in Brooklyn around gang violence and that I could get a quality education. I remember moving back to Brooklyn in the third grade, and I was light years ahead of my classmates. The teachers recognized it and wanted to place me in advanced classes, but they were full. So she gave me extra assignments to keep me from boredom. I graduated high school, went to college, and dropped out when I found a great job. I would later go on to finish my degree while working.

Around 2008, a friend and I started a blog. I discovered my knack for social media and started consulting around 2011. I made approximately $24,000 in three years. During those three years, I was excited about the extra income I was bringing into my business. It helped me pay for vacations, keep my bills current, and splurge on a few luxury items. I do not remember exactly when or how, but I somehow came across Les Brown. Up until this point, I’d been using speaking engagements and 1:1 consulting visits to support clients. Mr. Brown was such a dynamic speaker. I was drawn in, and I started sipping the Kool-Aid. Before I knew it, I was attending one of his seminars. It was at this seminar that I learned how people were making career-level salaries in their businesses. I wanted that as well. 

I brought books, ordered DVDs, and attended as many networking events as possible. And in my fourth year, I tripled my income. A simple marketing strategy helped me generate close to $80,000 in my business. I shared valuable insight on weekly teleconferences, I gave a CTA (call-to-action), and I booked clients.

In my fifth year, I tripled it again. I had earned over $230,000 while working a full-time job without burning myself out. In fact, I was having the time of my life. I was traveling and receiving payment notifications. I was able to pay off a significant amount of student loan debt, and the rest, as they say, was history in the making.
